Issue Two 2026 of the Bus-News magazine is out now. It arrives between two of the bus industry’s key autumn gatherings: InnoTrans 2026 closed its doors in Berlin last month, and Euro Bus Expo returns to the NEC Birmingham on 3–5 November, with more than 200 exhibitors and over 75 new vehicles expected. The issue includes a preview of the show, covering its new roundtable programme for operators.

At the heart of the issue is an editorial from Principal Journalist Tiana May, reporting from the International Bus Forum at InnoTrans. She asks whether operators should hold back on electric fleet investment until autonomous buses arrive. The answer is that preparing for autonomy does not mean waiting for it. The electric buses, charging infrastructure and digital systems bought today can lay the foundations for more automated operations in future.

The magazine also visits the Sommergarten at InnoTrans. There, a MAN Lion’s City 12 E from DB Regio and a Škoda 32Tr trolleybus for Esslingen showed two different routes to electrification. It was a small display, but a reminder that the shift to zero-emission transport is happening across road and rail at once.

Supplier contributors to the issue include:

  • PEI Mobility, which outlines its articulation systems and its move into railway gangways
  • BatOnRoute, which shares how its BatOnRoute platform gave parents real-time visibility of a school minibus route in Wales
  • Mosaiq by Snapper Services, which examines how AI-assisted analysis can help planning teams retain expertise as experienced staff retire
  • Elydium, which makes the case for the timetable as the contract between authority, operator and passenger
