TransLink is set to introduce additional bus service across Metro Vancouver this winter, with 37 routes seeing increases to improve reliability, reduce overcrowding, and extend service hours.
The changes form part of TransLink’s Winter Service Plan and will take effect on Monday, 5 January 2026.

Key adjustments include:
- #609 South Delta Exchange/Ladner Exchange: Service will operate every 30 minutes throughout the day, seven days a week, supporting connections to Tsawwassen First Nation.
- #80 River District/Marine Drive Station: Previously a peak-only route, weekday frequency will now be every 30 minutes during middays, providing better connections to the Canada Line.
- SeaBus adjustments: Sunday services have been modified to improve reliability, with the last departure from Lonsdale Quay at 11:00 p.m. and from Waterfront Station at 11:22 p.m.
Several high-demand bus routes will also see additional capacity during peak periods. The #335 Newton/Surrey Central Station route, the second busiest in the system, will have added trips to reduce pass-ups and overcrowding. Other routes among the 30 most crowded, including #16, #49, and #312, will also receive extra service.
The municipalities receiving the most additional bus service hours this winter are:
- Vancouver: over 11,000 additional service hours across eight routes
- Coquitlam: nearly 10,000 additional service hours across 13 routes
- Burnaby: nearly 8,500 additional service hours across seven routes
- New Westminster: more than 8,000 additional service hours across nine routes
- Surrey: nearly 7,000 additional service hours across eight routes
These service increases are part of TransLink’s 2025 Investment Plan. Along with improvements made to 53 routes in autumn 2025, the new adjustments represent approximately one-third of the bus service expansion funded under the plan. Further enhancements are expected in April 2026.
