Adelaide has welcomed the first of 60-brand new electric buses into its city-wide vehicle fleet.
The two new buses will hit the road next week, and have been supplied by Scania.

The rest of the buses are expected to enter operation by mid-2026, marking a milestone in South Australia’s journey towards achieving a fully decarbonised public transport network.
Set to replace a fleet of aging diesel buses; the new vehicles are expected to remove over 4,500 tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere each year – the equivalent of powering roughly 1,500 homes.
Each vehicle will feature a capacity for 43 seated passengers, and offer journeys of 350 kilometres on a single charge.
In order to accommodate the new vehicles; Morphettville depot is increasing its overall charging capacity with new charging bays.
Other features onboard the vehicles will include Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and full protective driver security screens.
The procurement of new diesel-only buses ended in September 2022, with all new vehicles ordered now either diesel-electric hybrids or battery electric.
