A new night bus service in Devon is set to provide residents of Cranbrook with more transport options on Saturday nights as an updated timetable comes into effect from Saturday 10 January.
The new route from Exeter to Cranbrook has been added to the local night bus service following a funding injection from the Police and Crime Commissioner’s office, and will provide four additional buses from midnight to 04:00 every Saturday.

Initially trialled in 2023 as a Christmas & summer service; the night buses were expanded last year to include seven new routes operating between May and December.
Of the routes introduced, a service from Exeter to Dawlish has now been scrapped due to low passenger numbers, whilst a new provider is being sought to reinstate the summer night bus service in Newquay.
Routes set to run from this coming Saturday (10 January) consist of the following:
- Exeter to Cullompton, Cranbrook, Crediton and Exmouth
- Barnstaple to Bideford and Ilfracombe
- Plymouth to Tavistock and Saltash
- Torquay to Paignton and Brixham
Since its expansion in May 2025, a little over 16,200 passengers utilised the night bus service across Devon and Cornwall, with the addition of Cranbrook expected to prove equally as popular for local revellers.

Peter Knight, Managing Director at Stagecoach South West, said:
“Following a successful trial period, Stagecoach, in partnership with the OPCC, who have provided funding for the service, is pleased to introduce new late-night bus services in Exeter from Saturday, January 10, 2026.
“Service 4, operating between Exeter City Centre (Cheeke Street) and Cranbrook, will run hourly through the night on Saturday nights into Sunday mornings, with four journeys from Exeter and three from Cranbrook between approximately midnight and 4am. In line with the trial period, passengers can expect increased frequency, with reliable hourly services throughout the night.
“The introduction of these services reflects positive demand during the trial and our ongoing commitment to supporting Exeter’s night-time economy, shift workers, and late-night travellers by providing safe and sustainable transport options.”
