AECOM Tishman has announced it has been selected by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) as the construction manager for the new Dyer Avenue deck-overs project.
The project is set to be delivered in conjunction with the Midtown Bus Terminal replacement project, which is regarded as one of the most significant infrastructure initiatives in the United States today.
As part of the contract, AECOM Tishman will deliver deck-overs worth 271 million USD to allow for the staging of buses during larger portions of construction works on the replacement project, which will then be turned into 3.5 acres of new, publicly accessible open green space.
The Dyer Avenue deck-overs project will see the construction of two decks over below-grade portions of both Dyer Avenue and the Lincoln Tunnel Expressway between West 37th and West 38th Streets, as well as between West 38th and West 39th Streets.
Eric Reid, PE, Chief Operating Officer, AECOM Tishman, said:For more than a century, AECOM Tishman has managed the construction of some of New York’s most iconic infrastructure projects, and we are proud to have been selected to assist the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey with the first piece of the Midtown Bus Terminal replacement project.
We have been honored to support the vision of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for more than five decades, and we are grateful for the opportunity to play a role in the delivery of this once-in-a-generation project that will improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of commuters and enhance the surrounding community.
The Midtown Bus Terminal replacement project aims to replace the existing, 73-year-old facility with an all-new site, including additions such as a 2.1 million square-foot main terminal, a separate storage and staging building and new entrance and exit ramps for the Lincoln Tunnel.
The project also recently secured a loan of 1.9 billion USD toward its completion.
