Alexander Dennis has delivered the first two of seven Enviro500 double-decker buses to the Spokane Transit Authority (STA).

The buses are the first to be built in partnership with manufacturer Big Rig Manufacturing (BRM) at a new production facility in Las Vegas.

The two buses are the first of an order of seven buses for the Spokane Transit Authority

The new 80,000 square foot facility has been developed solely for the production of Alexander Dennis low and zero-emission double decker buses.

Stephen Walsh, Alexander Dennis Vice President & General Manager North America, added:

The completion and delivery of these new double deck buses for Spokane Transit is a milestone for Alexander Dennis in North America. It adds another transit agency to the growing roster of double deck users and marks a key moment in our partnership with Big Rig Manufacturing.

With the state-of-the-art assembly in Las Vegas now fully operational, we are on track to fulfil our growing order book and further add to the 1,400 double deck buses we have sold in North America to date.

Measuring 42.5 feet long and 13.6 feet tall, each vehicle delivered to STA is capable of seating up to 82 passengers and carrying up to 108 at full capacity, including up to two wheelchairs.

The vehicles come equipped with powered ramps at each front door to allow for enhanced accessibility, and have been tested for full ADA-compliance.

Each vehicle will shortly enter service along both Routes 6 and 66 serving Spokane and Cheney.

STA Interim Co-CEO, Brandon Rapez-Betty, said:

The arrival of these double-decker buses is the start of an exciting new era for Spokane Transit.

The contemporary design and greater capacity of these buses will not just enhance but literally elevate the transit experience for our riders and establish a new standard for public transportation in our region.
