The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) has applauded Congress for pledging 94.3 million USD worth of funding toward mobility related projects for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in the recently enacted transportation spending law.
Part of a broader bill that seeks to provide federal investment for public transit and passenger rail infrastructure; the funding will see LA Metro advance with its Games Enhanced Transit System (GETS)—a temporary supplementary system to move spectators and the workforce to and from venues.

The funding will also see a number of improvements made to stations, mobility hubs and light rail; support given for the Games Route Network; and a number of enhancements carried out at venue areas.
Metro Chair Fernando Dutra said:We look forward to collaborating with the federal government to deliver a world-class experience for everyone coming to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
According to LA Metro; the bill not only funds the 2028 Games, but will also provide funds for the 2026 World Cup transportation assistance, bus stop enhancements, transit safety funding (for the top 10 transit agencies), and the Vermont BRT line in LA County.
APTA President and CEO Paul P. Skoutelas said:Every dollar invested in public transportation returns five dollars in long-term economic value, with 77 percent of federal transit investment flowing to the private sector.
Passing this legislation will strengthen American manufacturing, support family-wage jobs, and keep the nation moving.
