The US Department of Transport (USDOT) Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has announced a new investment of almost 390 million USD into a set of 34 transit projects across 19 states, as well as Puerto Rico.

The funds are planned to deliver nearly 200 new buses, as well as provide the means to construct or rehabilitate approximately 11 bus maintenance facilities.

All funding provided by the FTA’s  Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Program is set to be utilised to support public transit agencies in the buying and rehabilitation of buses and vans, as well as the building and rehabilitating of bus facilities.

These selections were made from a list of remaining applications first submitted as part of the original FY25 Notice of Funding Opportunity, and use the FY26 Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities funding, which was appropriated by Congress on 3 February 2026.

FTA Administrator Marc Molinaro said:

This is about making the investment today to ensure we are providing safer, more reliable and more efficient service for families today and for generations to come.

This Administration is committed to rebuilding our nation’s transportation infrastructure and helping to improve bus service nationwide.

With this announcement, the FTA has announced an allocation of 2.4 billion USD in the 2025 & 2026 financial years under the Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Program and the Low or No Emission Program.

In total, these allocations will go to 199 projects across 48 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia, and the FTA anticipates the next Notice of Funding Opportunity for these programmes will be published later in 2026.
