NFI Group subsidiary, Motor Coach Industries (MCI), has announced it has been awarded a new contract for the purchase and subsequent supply of 100 MCI D45 CRT high-floor coaches for the Metro Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO).

The contract, which consists of an initial order of 50 coaches with a secured option of a further 50, has been added to MCI’s Q3 2024 firm and option awards.

The coaches will enter operation along METRO’s Park & Ride service routes, which provide transport for commuters travelling into Houston from areas outside the 610 Loop.

The loop, which consists of the city’s downtown and central city sections surrounded by Interstate 610, serves areas such as Cypress, Grand Parkway, Addicks and Spring.

Chris Stoddart, President, North American Bus and Coach, NFI, said:

NFI and our subsidiaries have been working with METRO for over 30 years, and MCI previously delivered over 500 coaches to METRO.

MCI coaches are designed to balance reliability and innovation while always maintaining a focus on the passenger experience. We are proud that our vehicles play a key role in connecting people to their jobs, families, communities, and other important parts of their lives.

METRO is currently undertaking a slew of additional transit-oriented developments, including the building of a new Park & Ride facility located in Missouri City.
