The bus division of VDL Groep has reported an increase in revenue of 6 percent in 2025, rising to 538 million EUR.
The increase comes during a year of organisational change, following the integration of VDL Bus & Coach and VDL Van Hool into a single structure under VDL Bus Group, operating with the VDL and Van Hool brands.
The combined operation focused on scaling up production of electric buses, with manufacturing of the VDL Citea concentrated at its facility in Roeselare. The company notes that its 2026 production capacity for buses is fully allocated, with deliveries planned across core European markets including Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and France.

Alongside urban buses, the coach segment also expanded. The Van Hool brand completed its first full year within the reorganised group, securing new contracts in Europe while maintaining activity in North America. Production for both regions is supported by manufacturing operations in Macedonia.
During the year, the group also introduced the VDL Futura 3 coach. The model is entering service in Europe from 2026, with production based in Valkenswaard. The vehicle incorporates updates in energy efficiency, safety systems and operational flexibility, reflecting ongoing development in coach design.
Despite revenue growth and product developments, the Buses division remained loss-making in 2025. Despite continued demand, this indicates ongoing financial pressures within the segment.
Its order book stood at 611 million EUR at the end of the year.
