At Busworld 2025 in Brussels, VDL Bus Group will present the third generation of its Futura coach. It will also formally introduce its new organisational structure.
The newly created VDL Bus Group combines the operations of VDL Bus & Coach and VDL Van Hool under one umbrella. The company will operate with two distinct brands – VDL and Van Hool – which will maintain their own identities while working within a single organisation. Both brands will be showcased at Busworld.
Futura 3 debut
The event will see the public unveiling of the VDL Futura 3. According to the manufacturer, the new generation of the long-distance coach has been developed with a focus on energy efficiency, lower operating costs and future adaptability. The coach is based on a modular powertrain platform designed to accommodate future propulsion systems.
Key features include a redesigned interior layout to improve passenger comfort, an updated driver environment with enhanced visibility and digital support systems, and an exterior design with improved aerodynamics.
The vehicle also incorporates safety and assistance technologies that comply with the latest European General Safety Regulation.
Manufacturing within VDL Bus Group is organised by product type and location. The VDL Citea range of public transport buses is produced at the factory in Roeselare, Belgium. The Futura coach line is built in Valkenswaard, the Netherlands, while Van Hool coaches are produced in Macedonia. The company states that this structure allows it to align production with expertise and available resources at each site.
The consolidation of the two companies into VDL Bus Group and the launch of the Futura 3 will form the centrepiece of the company’s presence at Busworld 2025.
