VDL Bus & Coach has announced it has been selected for the provision of both 42 Low Entry R-NET buses for Hoeksche Waard/Goeree-Overflakkee (HWGO) and all of their associated maintenance needs as part of a concession awarded to Transdev.
The HWGO concession, which runs from December 2025 to December 2038, will see the company provide bus transport for the two municipalities and all areas in-between, as well as services in Rotterdam, Dordrecht, Barendrecht, Hellevoetsluis-Spijkenisse, Renesse and Willemstad.

Current operator, Connexxion, will continue to run the concession until 14 December 2025, at which point Transdev will begin offering transport services under the same carrier.
Gosse Veenstra, Regional Director Transdev Nederland, said:We are pleased to further expand our cooperation with VDL Bus & Coach with this large order for the Hoeksche Waard/Goeree-Overflakkee concession. Through these new zero-emission buses, we contribute to a cleaner living environment and future-proof public transport. In addition, we are confident that these new buses will further enhance passenger experience.
As part of the concession, VDL is set to provide 42 of its electric LE-122 buses for Transdev’s route operations. The vehicles, which have been designed and manufactured to comply with all General Safety Regulation (GSR2) requirements, are fully equipped with a Blind Spot Information System (BSIS), Intelligent Speed Assisstance (ISA), Moving Off Information System (MOIS, Driver Drowsiness Detection (DDD) and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
Each vehicle also features a reverse camera, cruise control, an Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS), electronic stability control and camera mirrors placed around the vehicle, as well as an electric and manual combination ramp for wheelchair and pushchair users, heated seats and USB connections throughout.
As part of the new concession, Transev plans to expand active service times, as well as increase general bus frequency.
