Plymouth Citybus, part of the Go-Ahead Group, has introduced Wrightbus’ Generation 2 Electroliner electric buses in service across the city.
The launch is a major step forward in the city’s transition to a zero-emissions fleet — and to celebrate, a new showcase video highlighting the vehicles in action is now live.

The arrival of the new Electroliners brings quieter journeys, improved passenger comfort and significantly reduced emissions. With their smooth acceleration and near-silent operation, the buses offer a noticeably different experience from the moment passengers step aboard.
The vehicles represent a key early milestone in Plymouth’s wider sustainability ambitions. As set out in the city’s Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), the long-term goal is to establish “a thriving bus network where everyone can be connected to important people and places, by services that are frequent, reliable, fast, affordable, safe and clean — which will also help Plymouth to achieve its Net Zero goals by 2030.”
Wrightbus’ Generation 2 Electroliner has been engineered with inclusivity at its core. Each bus features:
- Two wheelchair bays to support independent travel
- Step-free entry for easier boarding
- Bright, dementia-friendly interiors designed to enhance visibility and comfort
These improvements ensure that Plymouth’s electric fleet is not only cleaner, but also better suited to the needs of a diverse travelling public.
The launch video offers the first detailed look at the buses in operation, illustrating how they will contribute to a more modern, accessible and environmentally responsible transport network.
