Volvo Buses has launched the Volvo 7800 Electric in Mexico, marking the first electric articulated and bi-articulated bus to be manufactured in the country.
The introduction of this bus is set to contribute to the evolution of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems in Mexico by increasing efficiency and reducing emissions.
The models are built on Volvo Buses’ global BZR electromobility platform.

The Volvo 7800 Electric is designed to enhance passenger capacity while supporting sustainability goals. The bi-articulated model, measuring 25.6 metres in length, has a capacity of up to 300 passengers, while the articulated version can accommodate up to 191 passengers. Both models feature a 250 kWh charging capacity.

Rafael Kisel, President of Volvo Group Mexico said:We are accelerating the transformation to sustainable and efficient transport solutions to further improve the public transport system in Mexican cities. This will not only have a positive effect for the operators and the passengers, but it will also improve the quality of life for citizens in cities.
The Volvo 7800 Electric will be delivered with a maintenance contract, as well as access to spare parts and timely servicing. It will also incorporate Volvo Buses’ latest active safety systems, designed to enhance the protection of pedestrians and cyclists. Furthermore, the model will feature a connectivity and circularity system specifically tailored for the Mexican market.
Volvo Buses has positioned the Volvo 7800 Electric as a key step in Mexico’s transition to electromobility. The buses will be manufactured at Volvo’s facility in Mexico, with the first deliveries expected in 2026.
