FlixBus has announced a long-term partnership with Cardiff-based Watts Coaches, following an initial collaboration during the festive period in December 2024.
The partnership began when Watts Coaches joined the FlixBus network to support increased passenger demand over Christmas. Following the success of this collaboration, Watts is now a full-time operator within the network.

Watts Coaches has now introduced five newly Flix-branded Temsa vehicles, operating multiple daily services between Cardiff and London.
In addition, the partnership has expanded FlixBus connections, introducing a direct service from Cardiff and Bristol to Birmingham, Sheffield, Leeds, and Newcastle.
This supports FlixBus’ rapid expansion across the UK, with plans to double its UK network by the end of summer 2025.
FlixBus UK Managing Director Andreas Schorling said:We acted quickly and efficiently to integrate Watts into our network for the busy Christmas period. We were impressed with how rapidly the team at Watts got up to speed, moving from onboarding to on the road in just a few weeks.
We have achieved hyper-growth since launching three years ago and will double our network again by this summer, matching incumbent operators for frequencies between key cities.
It is only a matter of time before FlixBus becomes the UK market leader for long-distance coach travel, and we have every reason to be extremely optimistic about the future of the industry.
Alongside scheduled services with FlixBus, Watts Coaches continues to provide private hire, school, and tour services.
The operator has a recognised reputation in vehicle engineering, offering repairs, PSVAR conversions, and up-seating for other bus companies.
Jo-Anne Watts, Director of Watts Coaches, said:Partnering with FlixBus has been a game-changer for us. The technology they offer is an advanced innovation I hadn’t realised was possible; it makes operations incredibly smooth and efficient.
Joining the network marks the start of a fresh chapter for us, and the FlixBus team is full of energy and optimism. The future is Flix, and we’re excited to grow together.
Elsewhere in Wales, Alex Strawbridge has been named FlixBus UK Driver of the Year 2024, operating services with Cymru Coaches.
Originally from Swansea, Alex received the highest ranking of all drivers on the UK FlixBus network last year and is the first Welshman to win the award.

Alex, 40, joined Swansea-based operator Cymru Coaches in 2024, driving on the Bristol Airport–Swansea route.
Alex Strawbridge said:I didn’t expect anything because I see providing a great customer experience as part of my job getting people from A to B. But it’s a massive honour, and I really appreciate the recognition from FlixBus.
For me, consistent communication is key. You need to be informative, have patience, and greet passengers with a smile. Whether I’m taking people to the airport for a well-deserved holiday or getting them home after a long day, it’s so important to create a relaxed environment.
FlixBus has also recognised Darren Keenan, 55, with a highly commended award for 2024. Based with FlixBus partner Ashcroft Mini Travel in Golborne, Warrington, he has been driving long-distance express coaches for four years.
Prior to this, Darren served in the armed forces in Canada and the United Kingdom and also worked as a driver for the prison service.
Jessica Strangward, Senior Operations Manager at FlixBus said:Darren is a fantastic example for those considering a second career in coach driving – whatever your background. We’re sure his story will inspire others to take the leap!
We are delighted he felt such a strong draw to drive for the FlixBus brand and he is a fantastic representative for us on the road, with fantastic ratings from our passengers.
