Wrightbus has announced the latest data presenting its continued growth in the UK bus sector.
As the leading bus manufacturer in the UK, Wrightbus currently has a 40 percent market share, delivering 22 buses to operators each week throughout 2024.
Based in Northern Ireland, the manufacturer has already been named the fastest-growing bus manufacturer in the UK and Europe. So far this year, it has registered 786 buses, which is 250 more than its nearest rivals. This figure is also 500 more than that of Chinese-owned firms Volvo and BYD.
Within these figures, Wrightbus’ double-decker electric vehicle is its most popular model with 598 registrations. Meanwhile, the single-deck version has had 164 registrations. In August alone, a record-breaking 142 buses rolled off its production line.
These numbers do not include the hundreds of buses Wrightbus has manufactured for customers in Europe and the Far East or its order book for its repowering service, New Power.
Wrightbus has also recently won its largest order to date to supply 1,500 electric buses to Go-Ahead in the UK, which will further position the manufacturer as a leader in the UK market.
Wrightbus CEO Jean-Marc Gales said:The factory is an incredible place to be at the moment. A record 142 buses in August and we have broken through the 2,000-employee barrier.
Our ambition from day one has been to reduce the environmental impact of public transport – slashing emissions in our towns and cities quicker than any other industry - and we will remain committed to investing in the best technology to develop even more efficient solutions.
