Yutong has celebrated the successful deployment of 723 of its buses for use by players, officials and local commuters attending the 35th African Football Tournament.

This year’s event, which was held across six host cities from Tangier to Agadir, marked its largest-ever venue footprint, with Yutong supplying a large number of buses designed to operate within Morocco’s challenging climate and road conditions.

Each supplied 18-metre model is capable of accommodating up to 130 passengers, with Yutong deploying more than 100 technicians and localised parts reserves in order to keep its offering rolling over the 29-day-long event.

In total, over 3 million passengers utilised the vehicles across the four cities, with the company’s role extending beyond event-day operations to continue to support long-term transit development within Morocco with its network of 94 service centres across Africa.

Training programmes have now begun, building new local teams for driving, maintenance and fleet management, with Yutong stating that it hopes these lay the foundations for sustainable and self-reliant public transport operations within the country.
