Yutong’s new battery electric intercity bus, IC12E, has completed the world’s first long-distance full-scenario test.

The bus, which was initially unveiled at the UITP Summit in Germany, was tested to verify its performance and overall adaptability in real-world, working conditions.

The journey spanned 1,272 kilometres across Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway

The journey, which spanned 1,272 kilometres across Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, saw the vehicle travel 510 kilometres per full charge between Hamburg and Copenhagen, with its state of charge (SOC) dropping to 28% from 99%.

The vehicle travelled 327km between Copenhagen and Gothenburg, with charging tests showing a SOC increase from 13% to 99% following 100 minutes of charge time.

IC12E achieved a maximum gradient of 20% on uphill roads in Norway, and consumed 926 kWh at an average of 0.7 kWh/km upon arrival in Oslo.

Following the success of the trial, Yutong has stated it will continue to explore further programmes to showcase its vehicular applications.
