Transport electrification specialist Zenobē and mobility operator Vectalia have signed a framework agreement that could see up to 120 million EUR invested in electric buses and supporting infrastructure across Spain over the next three years.

The agreement provides for operating leases to support the renewal of Vectalia’s fleet with electric buses, alongside the electrification of depots and other charging infrastructure. The arrangement is intended to support the transition to lower-emission public transport services and contribute to Vectalia’s decarbonisation objectives.

Under the partnership, Zenobē will provide a package of services including vehicle leasing, charging infrastructure and technical support. The agreement also includes a battery management framework under which Zenobē will assume certain battery-related risks and provide monitoring services to track battery health and degradation.

The structure is designed to reduce operational risks associated with electric vehicle deployment while supporting the long-term management of fleet assets.

Martín Navarro, Director for Iberia at Zenobē, said:

The combination of this long-term structure and specialised technical support enables Vectalia to move more quickly toward the electrification of its fleet and the achievement of its sustainability goals, offering its users cleaner, more efficient and emission-free transportation.

For Vectalia, the agreement forms part of its ongoing strategy to introduce lower-emission transport solutions across its network. The company operates public transport services in several regions of Spain and has been expanding the use of alternative propulsion technologies within its fleet.

Antonio Agudo, CFO of Vectalia said:

This agreement reinforces Vectalia’s commitment to sustainable mobility and to our users. Thanks to this framework leasing agreement, we will be able to accelerate the electrification of our fleets and depots, directly contributing to the reduction of emissions and moving toward more efficient, innovative and environmentally friendly public transportation.
