Kinetic has announced the rollout of 175 additional services a week across the Tweed – introducing around 25 extra services per day.

The move forms part of a wider network redesign shaped by community feedback and built in an attempt to keep pace with one of the region’s fastest-growing corridors.

Delivered in collaboration with Transport for NSW; the changes will seek to improve five of Kinetic’s urban routes across the Tweed, Routes 601, 603, 605, 606 and 609, by reworking and extending routes, as well as increasing route frequencies to better connect residents with hospitals, shops, schools and the Gold Coast.

The investment is expected to generate seven new full-time jobs and bring one additional bus to the local fleet once service commences on 29 June.

One key change is the extension of Route 601, which will now begin service to the new Kings Forest Estate for the first time, alongside the introduction of extended hours, enabling work-shift-aligned evening services to Tweed Valley Hospital.

Route 609 will operate on weekends and public holidays and extend hrough to Kingscliff, whilst Route 603 will be rerouted via Moss Street and extended into Tweed Mall, opening up a direct run from Pottsville into Tweed and stronger connections across the border to the Gold Coast and Gold Coast Airport.

Meanwhile, Route 605 will move to an hourly frequency, improving travel between Murwillumbah and Tweed Heads, while Route 606 picks up additional trips from Monday to Saturday to maintain local coverage along the Keith Compton Drive area.

Kinetic General Manager (Gold Coast & Tweed Heads) Matthew Thompson said:

These changes are about making it genuinely easier for people across the Tweed to get where they need to go – whether that's to work, to the hospital, to the shops or across to the Gold Coast,
