The East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) has officially approved funding for a raft of improvements to Derby Bus Station.

In total, 4 million GBP will be provided for the project, which will be pulled from a wider pot of almost 300 million GBP designated for use on local transport improvements.

The station on the Morledge will see automatic doors, drainage/apron defects and unsafe seating repaired whilst ensuring full DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) and building regulation compliance to maintain a safe, functional and high-quality passenger environment.

Money from the wider pot will also be spent to purchase new electric buses, implement safer walking and cycling routes, improve real-time travel information and upgrade 120 bus stops across the city with new shelters.
