FlixBus Expands Coach Network in Northern England

FlixBus is further expanding its UK coach network with the launch of a new service to Manchester Airport from Stoke-on-Trent and Birmingham and a new route from Manchester to York and Bradford.

The operator’s new service to Manchester Airport commenced on Thursday 28 March and now serves the airport twice a day. With around 19 million people travelling to and from Manchester Airport each year, this dedicated route aims to offer a sustainable mode of transportation.

The route will be served by a brand new 49-seat coach with a modern interior, mobile device charging and Wi-Fi connectivity.

This service also directly connects Manchester’s Shudehill Interchange with Stoke-on-Trent and Birmingham, thus adding more services between these cities.

The launch of this dedicated airport builds on FlixBus’ ongoing expansion of its UK network, which also includes regular daily routes between London Gatwick and Heathrow Airport for Bristol and Wales.

Andreas Schorling, Managing Director of FlixBus UK said:

“We’re on a mission to build the largest coach network in the country, and this new service gives our customers more choice than ever, connecting key cities like Manchester and Birmingham.

“We expect this new Manchester Airport route to be as popular with passengers as the first dedicated airport services we launched last year, offering a great value, convenient way to travel.”

On Thursday 11 April, FlixBus is also launching a new service from Manchester to York and Bradford via Leeds. This route will also be operated by a new Yutong 49-seat coach alike to that used on the Manchester Airport service.

Both of these new services will be run by Belle Vue, which also provides daily FlixBus services between Manchester, Leeds, Middlesborough and Newcastle.

Phil Hitchen, Managing Director of Belle Vue, said:

“We are delighted to extend our partnership with FlixBus even further and help their mission to build the largest UK network with the best customer experience. Our brand new coaches offer the highest standards of comfort for long-distance journeys, with all the facilities to ensure a relaxing and enjoyable trip with us.

“Our services are the only ones in the UK where the drivers are trained to read their passengers' personalities so they can anticipate their wants, needs and expectations and deliver an exceptional, personal travel service that makes people come back for more.”
