Hong Kong’s KMB Orders Another 72 Enviro500 Double Deck Buses from NFI’s ADL

Alexander Dennis Limited (“ADL”), a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc. (“NFI”), one of the world’s leading independent global bus manufacturers, has announced that it will supply a further 72 Enviro500 double deck buses to Hong Kong’s largest bus operator The Kowloon Motor Bus Company (1933) Limited (“KMB”).

KMB is the largest franchised bus operator in Hong Kong, operating on over 400 routes with a fleet of around 4,000 buses, including more than 2,500 Enviro500 buses bought from ADL since the current generation model was launched in 2012.

The new order is for 46 buses built to a length of 12.8m, able to carry up to 144 passengers including 92 on seats fitted with three-point safety belts and two wheelchair users, as well as 26 shorter vehicles. At 11.3m length, these will have 78 safety-belted seats, one wheelchair space and a total passenger capacity of up to 124. They feature a steered tag axle to ensure excellent manoeuvrability on routes serving the hills of the New Territories as well as in narrow city streets.
