La Veloz, part of the Samar Group, is adding two new Irizar e-mobility electric buses to its fleet in Madrid, Spain.
The 12-metre Irizar ie buses will operate on the Rivas Vaciamadrid urban lines, which are managed by the Regional Transport Consortium of Madrid.
Delivery of the units is scheduled for the end of September 2024.
Iñigo Azcona, Commercial Director of Irizar e-mobility for Spain and Portugal said:After years of having a close relationship with the Samar Group in terms of buying Irizar buses, the time has come to take the leap to electric mobility. We’re extremely proud to keep being a key technological partner of the Samar Group.
The Irizar ie bus is noted for its silent operation, safety, and comfort. It features the latest generation Irizar batteries, three doors, and 30 seats, including 4 reserved for people with reduced mobility. It also includes dedicated wheelchair spaces.
The bus has charging points on both sides of the vehicle, located over the first axle. What’s more, it is compatible with the Combo 2 garage charging system.
This acquisition is part of the Samar Group’s commitment to sustainability and its ambition to improve the air quality in the cities where it operates. The company aims to transition to an entirely electric fleet over the next few years.
David Gutiérrez, a Samar Group representative said:We’re delighted to continue our commitment to innovation and respect for the environment, in line with the values of Irizar e-mobility. These new electric buses mark a before and after in our urban transport services, not just in terms of sustainability but also in comfort and safety.
