Karsan has introduced its Autonomous e-ATAK electric bus in Switzerland, marking the country’s first automated bus service.

Developed in collaboration with ADASTEC, the e-ATAK is the world’s first Level-4 driverless vehicle to provide public transport on planned routes.

In Switzerland, it will operate on a 2.2-kilometre route with 8 stops between Arbon’s historic city centre and the Saurer Werk 2 residential area, travelling at 30 km/h.

Karsan CEO Okan Baş said:

Our vehicle offers a comfortable and eco-friendly autonomous travel experience without disrupting the historic texture of Arbon's narrow streets, thanks to its compact structure. We are proud to take on a pioneering role in Switzerland's transition to driverless public transport with our Autonomous e-ATAK, which will provide passenger transport services in autonomous mode on a 2.2-kilometre public transport route.

Karsan’s Autonomous e-ATAK has also been deployed in Finland, the USA, France, Romania, Norway and Türkiye.

In addition, Karsan has signed an agreement to conduct an autonomous project at Rotterdam Airport in the Netherlands, where it will deliver two Autonomous e-ATAKs at the end of 2024.
