Indian electric vehicle manufacturer Keto Motors has unveiled its first commercial electric bus, marking the company’s entry into the country’s battery-electric bus market.
The launch introduced the Urbanova KE9, a 9-metre battery-electric bus designed for commercial passenger transport. During the event, the company also carried out a ceremonial handover of the vehicle to its operating partner ahead of its deployment.
The bus has been designed and manufactured in India as part of its strategy to expand its commercial electric vehicle portfolio and support the country’s transition towards electric mobility.
Earlier this year, Keto Motors confirmed plans to establish a dedicated electric bus manufacturing facility at Jadcherla in Telangana under a memorandum of understanding with the state government. The company intends to invest approximately 26 million GBP in the project, which will focus on producing 9-metre electric buses and is expected to create more than 2,000 direct jobs over three years.
In May, Keto Motors became a publicly listed company following the completion of a reverse merger with Taaza International Limited, enabling the company to trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange. The company said the listing would support the expansion of its manufacturing capabilities, electric bus development and commercial EV operations.
