At Embedded World North America, NEXCOM today announced its new ATC 3750-IP7-6C ruggedized computer designed for autonomous machines and powered by the NVIDIA Jetson™ platform for edge AI and robotics.
NEXCOM is a distinguished global leader in edge computing and industrial IoT solutions. NEXCOM has combined its solid hardware strength with the software technology of its upstream computing partner to develop a variety of high-performance edge AI computing platform products for smart railway and in-vehicle applications.
NEXCOM Mobile Computing Solutions (MCS) redefine the future of daily transportation through their cutting-edge in-vehicle and railway systems. By using on-board edge devices including an AI edge telematics series, in-vehicle computer, railway computer, vehicle mount computer (all-in-one panel PC), and monitors, NEXCOM enhances vehicle safety, traffic optimization, and paves the path toward an intelligent mobility future.
Blind spots on mining trucks, construction trucks, and forklifts can create dangerous situations and limit the field of vision available to an operator. Around 20% of crashes are caused by the restricted visibility experienced by truck drivers. Accidents, breakdowns, and unhappy workers have negative financial and productivity consequences. Additionally, operating forklifts in tight warehouse spaces is a demanding job, and warehouse accidents also can lead to costly downtime.
It’s important for safety operators to apply preventative measures and be prepared to conduct investigations in case of unforeseen accidents. But without suitable equipment, it is an enormous challenge to detect and alert operators of nearby pedestrians to help prevent accidents before they happen.
In order to overcome the challenge, the ATC 3750-IP7-6C with IP cameras and lidar enables safety directors to analyze potential hazards and eliminate workplace blind spots and collisions to improve safety.
The ATC 3750-IP7-6C is a rugged AI powerhouse designed to revolutionize autonomous technologies. Equipped with the high-performance NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin™ system-on-module, this cutting-edge device delivers an impressive 200 to 275 TOPS for AI processing and inference workloads. With its IP67 rating, compact size, and 9~36VDC/24VDC rail with IGN control, the ATC 3750-IP7-6C is the perfect in-vehicle/rail companion. It features 6 PoE+ with an optional 10GbE port for high-speed data transmission for seamless access to IP CAM, along with a variety of rich peripheral ports including GbE/2.5GbE, USB3.2, isolation CANBus, RS232, Console, DI/DO, OTG, and HDMI. Whether it’s in transportation/construction, ANPR, AMR, machine learning or railway safety assurance, the ATC 3750-IP7-6C has users covered.
PoE+ port comes into play by providing a high-speed connection for autonomous machines. This is achieved by enabling communication between various sensors, including high-resolution cameras, lidar, and radar, and the processing unit. 5G and Wi-Fi options also enable over-the-air collaboration with cloud systems for AI model retraining.
For edge AI platforms that use NVIDIA Jetson modules, NEXCOM offers NEXCOM Accelerator Linux (NAL). NAL is an optimized Ubuntu 20.04 LTS derived from the NVIDIA JetPack SDK™, or software development kit. Programmers can access supported 5G, Wi-Fi, GNSS, IMU, CAN bus, MCU, I/O interfaces, and other peripherals through in-house design utility and APIs. This allows developers to use physical signals from peripherals and sensors as data sources for AI inference engines, with minimal knowledge required for hardware installation and configuration.
The NVIDIA Jetson AI stack, packaged with the latest JetPack 6.0 release, includes NVIDIA CUDA® 12.2, TensorRT™ 8.6, cuDNN 8.9 and VPI 3.1. JetPack 6.0 supports all NVIDIA Jetson Orin™ modules and developer kits. JetPack 6.0 brings the flexibility to run any Linux Kernel and offers wider options of Linux-based distros from Jetson ecosystem partners. It also includes the flexibility to update the Jetson AI stack without updating Jetson Linux BSP.
The NVIDIA JetPack SDK 6.0 upgrade also features new Jetson Platform Services, which add foundational and AI analytics services, generative AI capabilities, and multiple building blocks such as the Video Storage Toolkit (VST) and NVIDIA DeepStream SDK. NVIDIA Jetson Platform Services is a collection of pre-built and cloud-native software services and reference workflows to accelerate AI applications on Jetson. These services are modular, API-driven and can be quickly configured to build generative AI and other edge applications. There are 15+ services from AI services to system services.
This simplifies solution development for developers by eliminating the need for repetitive development on NVIDIA Jetson, empowering them to quickly assemble full-featured edge AI systems and manage edge AI applications. Through REST APIs, developers can easily access a variety of microservices, enabling the construction of unified cloud-to-edge vision AI applications. This functionality delivers the seamless replication of cloud-developed microservices and trained AI models to edge devices using IoT gateway and OTA.
ATC 3750-IP7-6C also holds the EN 50155 certification and is equipped with an M12 X-coded connector to prevent wire detachment. These features enable high-speed data processing, efficient operations, and excellent connectivity, facilitating real-time obstacle detection for collision avoidance. These railway computers play a crucial role in unfenced environments by detecting and eliminating blind spots, where unexpected obstacles like animals may enter; thereby minimizing accidents, damages, deaths, and delays while maintaining transportation volume and revenue.
NEXCOM’s hardware and software specifications are meticulously engineered to overcome the challenges encountered in real-world applications. Users can upgrade their AI journeys with the ATC 3750-IP7-6C and experience unparalleled performance, durability, and versatility. Don’t miss out on this game-changing device.
