Solaris Bus & Coach is set to deliver 10 new electric buses to the City of Gniezno, following a recent agreement between the two parties.

The first five electric vehicles (EVs) and the necessary charging infrastructure required to power the fleet are planned to be delivered by the end of 2024, with the remaining five due to arrive by April of 2025.

The investment in electric mobility continues the city’s commitment to modernise public transportation, improve air quality and reduce its CO2 emissions.

Andrzej Sienkiewicz, Sales Director of Solaris Bus & Coach, said:

It is a great honour and at the same time a responsibility to once again be the supplier of city buses for Gniezno City Transport. This time the buses will be electric and completely emission-free, and they will certainly contribute to improving air quality in the city.

I wish all passengers and drivers of Gniezno City Transport a comfortable and safe journey. I congratulate the city authorities and Gniezno City Transport on this important investment in a better future for Gniezno.

The 12-metre Urbino 12 buses, equipped with a central electric motor and Solaris High Energy Batteries, will be the Polish city’s first zero-emission vehicles.

The charging infrastructure, which will also be supplied by Solaris, will consist of plug-in connectors and pantographs, with the city opting for inverted pantographs, which lower onto the vehicles’ roofs when parked at the charging stations themselves.

With low floors, the vehicles are specially adapted to transport disabled passengers and provide dedicated zones for pushchairs. Each bus contains 31 seats, with 12 accessible without the use of any steps.
