Botosani Municipality has contracted Karsan to supply 38 10-metre e-ATA electric buses, further strengthening the manufacturer’s presence in Romania.

This order follows Karsan’s successful delivery of 30 e-JEST buses earlier in the year.

Elsewhere in Romania, Karsan has simultaneously secured an agreement with Alba Iulia for the supply of six e-JEST buses. These orders bring the company closer to its goal of deploying the largest electric public transport fleet in Romania by 2025.

Karsan CEO, Okan Baş said:

Romania is a significant market for us, and one of the milestones of our growth in electric vehicles. We started in 2019 with the export of our first 100% electric e-JEST model to Romania. By the end of 2022, we introduced our electric e-ATA model to the country. With orders for 100 electric vehicles across cities like Galati, Botosani, Bacau, Sighișoara, and Alba Iulia, we will have 365 electric vehicles operating in Romania by 2025. Our strong partnership with AAR, our distributor in Romania, has played a key role in achieving this.

The company’s partnership with local distributor AAR has been instrumental in winning these tenders.

Karsan’s e-ATA series offers a variety of battery options and a range of up to 450 kilometres. The 10-metre model is designed to carry 79 passengers. Meanwhile, the more compact e-JEST minibus has a range of up to 210 kilometres and can carry 22 passengers.

These models will cater to the varied transportation needs of Botosani and Alba Iulia.
