RTC Launches 4 Electric Buses in Southern Nevada

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) has launched a fleet of four new electric buses.

This is part of the agency’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and reducing emissions thanks to the electric vehicles producing no tailpipe emissions.

In addition, the new buses are expected to deliver cost savings, as the technology has fewer moving parts and is thus less expensive to maintain.

To enhance the passenger experience, the buses also provide a quieter and smoother, vibration-free ride.

The new buses were manufactured by New Flyer of America and can travel between 150 and 180 miles on a single charge.

M.J Maynard, CEO of RTC said:

“I think customers are going to be surprised at just how quiet the bus is. From the feedback we have received, the drivers think the bus is cleaner, more efficient and very smooth.”

This purchase was made possible thanks to increased federal funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and NV Energy’s Economic Recovery Transportation Electrification Plan.

The four new buses join two hydrogen fuel cell electric buses that entered service in RTC’s fleet earlier this year.
