Under the contract, Solaris will deliver 107 twelve-metre trolleybuses, with the potential for up to 201 more of the same model, as well as an additional 204 eighteen-metre articulated trolleybuses.

The first deliveries are scheduled for 2026, with further units arriving in 2027.

Javier Iriarte, CEO of Solaris Bus & Coach said:

This agreement marks a significant milestone for Solaris and is a testimony to our commitment to becoming the leading supplier of zero-emission buses in North America. We are grateful to TransLink for their trust in Solaris and our products. Solaris is the undiscussed European leader of trolleybuses, and this new order with options has the potential to become the largest procurement in Solaris history. It is an honour to be part of this collaboration, and I am confident that this partnership will be highly successful, with our vehicles meeting and surpassing their expectations.

This contract aligns with Solaris’ 2023-2026 Strategic Plan, which includes the introduction of its zero-emission buses (ZEBs) to the North American market. The company has already established itself in the European market, where it has supplied more than 5,500 ZEBs, including battery-electric, hydrogen, and trolleybuses, to over 30 countries.

Solaris has received industry recognition for its zero-emission vehicles. The Solaris Urbino 12 electric was named Bus of the Year in 2017, and the Solaris Urbino 18 hydrogen was awarded the same title for 2025 in Europe.

The partnership with TransLink represents an opportunity for Solaris to introduce its proven trolleybus technology to a new market and contribute to Vancouver’s transition to sustainable urban mobility.

Javier Iriarte, CEO of Solaris Bus & Coach added:

In Europe, the Solaris brand is widely recognised for the quality and superior performance of its zero-emission vehicles, including trolleybuses. We aim to bring the same service-proven technology to Canadian transit authorities. Our commitment is to support the transition to zero-emission transportation in cities across Europe and North America by developing and delivering the most reliable and innovative products.
