Solaris has been awarded a contract to deliver 100 Urbino 12 hybrid buses to Cagliari, capital of the Italian island, Sardinia.

The vehicles will arrive in Sardinia in 2024 and will be operated by ARST S.p.A., the island’s largest public transport operator.

Soon, 100 of the ordered hybrid vehicles will also appear on the Italian Peninsula

This order is part of a 2021 framework agreement with Consip, which is owned by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).

Under the agreement, public transport companies can order vehicles directly or make a call for tender that targets chosen suppliers.

The Urbino 12 hybrid vehicles will be fitted with a hybrid drive system consisting of a 250kW electric traction motor and an internal 150kW Euro 6 combustion engine.

The hybrid vehicles will deliver significant savings in fuel consumption as well as a reduction of polluting emissions

To ensure passenger comfort, the new vehicles will feature efficient air conditioning and a spacious interior fitted with USB charging points.
