Transport for London (TfL) is set to launch the new SL12 Superloop bus route on 5 September, with pay-as-you-go journeys free during the first week of operation.
Passengers using the service between 5 and 11 September will not be charged for their journey, although they will still need to touch in using a valid Oyster card or a contactless card or device.
The fare will be recorded as £0.00 during the introductory period.
The SL12 is part of TfL’s Superloop network of express bus routes, which is designed to provide faster orbital connections between areas outside central London.
The SL12 will run between Gants Hill and Rainham, via Newbury Park, King George’s Hospital, Romford, Queen’s Hospital and Elm Park. The route will provide connections with the Central line at Gants Hill and Newbury Park, the District line at Elm Park and the Elizabeth line at Romford. It will also provide a direct bus connection between King George’s Hospital and Queen’s Hospital.
The service will be the first Superloop route to operate into Havering and will extend the network to the Ferry Lane Industrial Estate in Rainham.
The SL12 will operate from approximately 05:30 to 00:30 every day. Buses will run every 12 minutes during the daytime from Monday to Saturday, and every 15 minutes during evenings and throughout Sundays.
The new route will begin operating on 5 September. Normal pay-as-you-go fares will apply after the promotional period.
