Tootbus to Repower 15 Open-Top Buses in London

Sightseeing bus company, Tootbus has announced plans to repower 15 open-top double-decker buses for operations in central London.

This is part of the company’s plan to have a fully electric fleet by 2030 in line with the Mayor of London’s net-zero plans for the capital.

These vehicles are used to operate hop-on, hop-off routes in London, covering more than 70 miles per day.

The buses will be repowered under a multi-million-pound agreement with Magtec. This will see the buses equipped with high-tech electric drive trains, including Magtec’s long-range 280 kWh battery system.

The repowered buses will join three fully electric vehicles already introduced in the Tootbus fleet.

Gavin Brooking, Managing Director of Tootbus UK said:

“This agreement enables us to continue to deliver on our commitment to a truly sustainable service. We are the first clean energy sightseeing bus company and remain driven to push the boundaries of green tourism at an accelerated rate – indeed our recent Sustainable Tourism Barometer showed that operators need to make it easier for consumers to adopt greener options.”

To encourage sustainable tourism, the company is also launching new seasonal products next year, such as a Tootwalk offering in London and Bath, which will be complimentary with a bus ticket.

This will provide customers with the provision to enjoy self-guided city tours around the bus stops using GPS-triggered audio commentary, available in English, French and Spanish.
