For two decades, the team behind Highway Coaches has navigated the changing landscape of the coach industry.  As fleets grow and vehicles become more complex, the pressure to uphold strict safety standards while minimising downtime is a major operational challenge.

Coach raised by vehicle lifting equipment

To meet these demands, Highway Coaches recently invested in the G9DC washbay mobile column lifts from Totalkare. This hydraulic lifting system, with an 8,000kg capacity per column, is designed to handle the tough conditions found in a washbay.

Choosing the G9DC model was a smart move. Unlike standard lifts, these columns are galvanised. This provides strong protection against water entry and rust. For a coach operator, the ability to perform both under-chassis cleaning and inspections in the same area is a significant boost to workshop efficiency.

James Atkins, Area Sales Manager at Totalkare, highlighted the need to pick equipment that meets the specific demands of the transport industry.

Atkins said:

Reliability in maintenance is essential.

By choosing the galvanised G9DC column lifts, Highway Coaches is investing in a solution that tackles the dual challenge of heavy lifting and constant water exposure. This setup not only improves safety; it also prepares their workshop for growth, allowing them to scale up to 48 columns if their fleet needs to expand.

Parm Kular, a representative for Highway Coaches, pointed out that the upgrade has already improved workflow in the workshop.

Kular explained:

Maintaining that personal touch our customers expect means we must be dependable.

The new Totalkare lifts have made our maintenance routine easier. We can now carry out thorough under-vehicle tasks with full confidence in the equipment’s stability and protection against moisture. It has reduced our need for outside facilities and kept our coaches where they belong: on the road, serving our passengers.
