An Electric Road System Charges an E-bus Wirelessly and Handsfree as It Drives

Germany’s first ever Electric Road System (ERS) has been successfully deployed in Karlsruhe, along a bus line connecting the new EnBW training centre in Karlsruhe’s Rhine harbour to the local public transport system.

How it Works

Deployed under the road, safe for drivers, pedestrians and wildlife, this new technology enables all EVs (that are fitted with a special Authorized Receiver) to charge seamlessly as they drive, idle, or park over the ERS.

More Information About the Karlsruhe, Germany Pilot

In August 2020, ElectReon in partnership with Eurovia announced plans for the first wireless ERS project in Germany to be deployed in Karlsruhe. With this project, EnBW is testing the suitability for everyday use of this innovative charging technology.
