Yutong has launched a new batch of its dual-powered trolleybuses in Quito, the capital city of Ecuador.

To mark the occasion, a celebration was held in the city as the 60 vehicle deployment was put into operation on Quito’s main transit routes, replacing an EBRT system dating back to the 1990’s.

Set to serve more than 2 million residents, Yutong’s 18.25-metre high-floor model vehicles are equipped with the company’s self-developed collector system and isolated DC/DC converters.

Each dual-source trolleybus runs by way of a dual power system, which is powered by both catenary lines & batteries, as well as being paired with a new motor drive system aiming to reduce energy consumption by roughly 30-40% when compared to traditional single source trolleybuses.
