Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has ordered an additional 50 electric buses from Alexander Dennis to operate as part of the region’s Bee Network.

This order doubles the number of electric buses currently purchased for TfGM’s Bee Network, following an initial contract for 5o vehicles in 2022.

Manchester Electric Buses
Transport for Greater Manchester has ordered another 50 zero-emission double deck buses from Alexander Dennis

The newly-ordered British-built buses will enter service in parts of Bury, Rochdale and Oldham from April 2024.

Alexander Dennis President & Managing Director, Paul Davies, said:

This repeat order from Transport for Greater Manchester is a great recognition of the value added by our zero-emission buses, which will be built in the North of England at our factory in Scarborough and supported locally from our AD24 aftermarket hub in Skelmersdale. With a total of 100 electric buses now on order from Alexander Dennis for the Bee Network, we are looking forward to helping to transform the public transport experience in the region.

The Bee Network has been designed to offer a London-style transport system which will include electric buses, trams, trains and improved cycling and walking infrastructure.

This system hopes to improve transportation for the region’s residents and visitors, while also reducing carbon emissions.
