Busworld Europe displayed the ongoing innovations in decarbonising the bus and coach sector. Notably, both Irizar and TEMSA presented hydrogen coaches that will deliver ranges of up to 1,000 kilometres on a single refuelling.

Irizar i6S Efficient

At the event, Irizar debuted the prototype of its new hydrogen Irizar i6S Efficient coach. This model is currently in its testing phase.

This zero-emission hydrogen-powered coach offers a range of 1,000 kilometres and has a minimal refuelling time of 20 minutes.

It thus aims to enable customers to transition to zero-emissions without changing how they operate on existing routes and schedules.

Furthermore, the model can run in 100% electric mode for short times if required.

TEMSA Intercity Hydrogen Coach

At Busworld, TEMSA also presented its intercity, hydrogen-powered coach. This vehicle is currently under development and is expected to enter mass production in 2025.

Under a joint development agreement, the vehicle will use Toyota’s hydrogen fuel cell technology on the TEMSA HD platform.

This will provide the coach with an estimated range of around 1,000 kilometres.
