Berlin, September 15, 2026: At InnoTrans 2026, Peak Mobility is introducing Predictive Dispatching as an extension of its PEAK.DMS depot management system. The solution integrates vehicle assignment, charging planning, and depot parking throughout the entire operating day. This enables transit companies to identify potential conflicts early on and make dispatching decisions based on a more comprehensive set of data.
As the proportion of electric buses grows, the number of factors that interact in vehicle scheduling increases. In addition to the route, factors such as the current and expected state of charge, charging windows, available charging stations, and parking locations must be taken into account. A vehicle assignment that works for the current block can therefore have an impact on later blocks or the first trips the following day.

It is crucial for the control center to be able to visualize not only the current block but also the consequences of a vehicle assignment for the rest of the operating day. Predictive dispatching is intended to provide a forward-looking basis for decision-making. Dispatching remains manageable; the system supports employees in selecting suitable vehicles and in carrying out necessary vehicle swaps.
From Routes to Activity Chains
At the heart of this expansion is the consolidation of multiple blocks into activity chains. For each vehicle assignment, the system checks whether a vehicle can serve the entire chain under the specified conditions and forecasts its state of charge throughout the entire operating day. Charging breaks, typical charging rates, and defined buffer times are automatically factored into the forecast. If the projected state of charge falls below the specified reserve, PEAK.DMS suggests a suitable alternative vehicle for that chain.
Vehicle assignment initially takes the form of an earmarking. Vehicles are visibly assigned to an activity chain, but the dispatch center can still reassign them. The first blocks of the following day are also taken into account when vehicles are returned to the depot. This allows the dispatch team to see early on which vehicles will have a high demand for charging in the morning or need to be ready for service particularly early.
