PSItraffic/DMS supports transition to emission-free bus operations.

The Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (MVG) started operating the PSItraffic/DMS depot management system from PSI Transcom at the Munich East and Munich Moosach depots as well as at the Fröttmaning depot.

The digitalization of depot processes enables efficient and optimal vehicle availability for both diesel and electric buses. This significant step supports MVG in its goal to future-proof operations and achieve a fully electric local bus fleet by 2035.

PSItraffic/DMS includes modules for vehicle and route scheduling, vehicle supply and driver information. Additional systems have been integrated via interfaces, such as MVG’s existing charge management system, the Intermodal Transport Control System (ITCS) and external vehicle tracking.

The external charge management system controls necessary charging processes and takes into account varying energy consumption to proactively plan charging for the approximately 500 e-buses expected in the coming days. Currently, around 60 e-buses are in operation.

The PSI system increases transparency of depot processes and provides information about vehicle conditions. Risks, particularly vehicle defects, are identified early and minimized. This will reduce operating costs and further improve the availability, reliability and cost-efficiency of the vehicle fleet.

MVG is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Stadtwerke München (SWM) and provides transportation services for the city of Munich with buses, trams and subways.
