Solaris has delivered 10 hydrogen buses to two customers in Upper Bavaria, Germany.
This includes the delivery of 5 Urbino 12 hydrogen buses to Busreisen Ettenhuber GmbH and an additional 5 to Martin Geldhauser GmbH & Co. KG.
The private carriers ordered the new vehicles in April 2022 to help reduce transport emissions in the Munich and Ebersberg regions.
The buses feature modern fuel cell kits with a capacity of 70kW and an axle with integrated electric motors. Their hydrogen fuel is stored in five tanks with a total capacity of 1,560 litres.
They are also equipped with a small Solaris High Power traction battery to support the fuel cells during periods of peak electricity demand.
This technology enables the buses to cover a minimum of 350 kilometres on a single refuelling.
The buses will be deployed on different routes to gain experience regarding distances, weather conditions, capacity utilisation and other variables.
To enhance safety, the buses are also equipped with MobilEye Shield+, which monitors blind spots and provides acoustic and visual warnings to the driver.
In addition, the carriers have also opted to use Solaris’ eSConnect system for remote diagnostics of buses. This programme helps optimise fleet operation by increasing vehicle availability, reducing downtime and avoiding unnecessary vehicle returns to the depot.
The vehicles are scheduled to enter regular service this autumn in conjunction with the completion of the hydrogen refuelling stations under construction at the Geldhauser and Ettenhuber depots. These stations will be supplied with green hydrogen produced from renewable energy in Pfeffenhausen.
