Stertil Group B.V. Next Phase of Sustainable Growth Investment with the $7.5 million Expansion of Global HQ Stertil B.V., Kootstertille, The Netherlands.
The Stertil Group B.V. Kootstertille, The Netherlands, is underway with the next phase in a multi-million investment programme in its facilities around the world with this $7.5 million two acre expansion. The investments are a result of the continued success and popularity of the various products from the Stertil Group businesses and is scheduled to be completed between the end of the year and the beginning of 2022.
Recently, in May of this year, the Group also took the opportunity to acquire an additional 6.5 acres of extra plot of ground from the local municipality that will ensure that the company can expand far into the future. The three business divisions are; Stertil-Koni heavy duty vehicle lifts for industrial and commercial vehicle maintenance, repair and service; the highly successful Stertil Dock Products division with international recognition for safe, high quality innovative loading bay equipment solutions, and Stokvis Service, with a comprehensive network of Service Engineers for the local Dutch market.
In-line with the Stertil Group’s vision, the expansion in Kootstertille offers a “green” building with the generation of electricity from solar panels, optimal insulation, ventilation, LED lighting and most importantly, more capacity. The additional two acre expansion will answer to the ever-increasing market demand for the Stertil® products. The Stertil Group has shown its continued commitment to investing in the local regional strategic markets of its main sales and production organisations.
The Kootstertille location is home to the Stertil Group’s Global Research and Development Team that design, develop and engineer the complete range of Stertil-Koni and Stertil Dock Products.
“Stertil” was established sixty years ago in 1961. The name is derived from the town in which the company is located, “Kootstertille”. In the seventies Stertil started with producing loading bay dock levellers for international warehousing facilities and distribution centres.
At the beginning of the eighties, Stertil-Koni vehicle lifts was established. There are Stertil sales and production organisations around the world as well as an established exclusive distributor and dealer network.
The finalisation in 2014 of the Stertil Group’s first phase production modernisation plan in The Netherlands was then finalised with the addition of modern ergonomic flow manufacturing and further automated assembly lines.
Now in 2021, as global demand grows exponentially, preventive maintenance and repair is more significant than ever, and new distribution hubs and warehousing facilities are being built to deal with the continued growth of the on-line economy. The expansion is part of the Group’s long-term strategy commitment to the industries that its businesses’ serve.
Bringing new and existing products faster to their end-destination and improving on-site logistics and storage capacity, as well expanding office space for the Supply Chain, Marketing and Sales departments. The expansion at the Kootstertille site will also accommodate the important Stertil® Experience and Knowledge Centre. The full product range of Stertil-Koni and Stertil Dock Products will be operational for training and demonstration purposes, as well as providing qualification and certification programmes on best-practices to the extensive network of International Stertil Service and Installation Engineers.
“The Stertil Group have a long-term investment plan made possible by our investors and with the support of our local municipal council who have granted the building permits. The fundament of our plan is based on a continued commitment to the industries we serve in providing products which answer customer needs, now and long into the future. This in a setting which is sustainable, provides a healthy and a good working environment for our employees, and gives opportunities locally and around the world in all of the regions we serve.
“At Stertil we enjoy being challenged, you can see this from our track record. It is more the rule than the exception that we start investment projects when we are confronted with some or other difficult external circumstances. This is no different today. Stertil like many other production companies, are facing challenging supply issues with sourcing materials and container transportation.
“Despite all of the disruption around the world and the trying economic conditions, we go ahead with our plans to build a safer and better product which is designed and developed by skilled employees in a pleasurable working environment and is sustainable for many years to come.”
