A new bus service in North Lincolnshire is set to provide improved on-demand transport for the general public.

Launching on Monday 27; Connect2 will allow locals the chance to select pick-up points from a network of local meeting locations.

The new Connect2 service will launch on 27 April

The service will utilise intelligent routing technology to create the most efficient possible journey, group nearby passengers and transport all involved to their desired destinations.

Introduced following the conclusion of the old JustGo contract; the service aims to offer greater availability, brand new buses and a local North Lincolnshire Council call centre.

Cllr Rob Waltham, Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said:

The new on-demand service builds on an already well-used service, with improvements to make it easier and more flexible to use. The call centre has been brought in-house, so if you need to speak to someone, a friendly council call handler will be on the other end of the phone to help. Whether you book through the app or contact the team, residents will be supported.

By keeping fares low and investing in smarter, more responsive transport, we’re supporting our communities to stay connected and thrive, ensuring that more people can access the things that matter to them – helping to keep them safe and well.

Operating between the hours of 07:00 and 19:00 on weekdays and 08:00 and 18:00 on Saturdays; the service will allow prospective passengers to book journeys through a dedicated Connect2 booking app – which will go live on 24 April.

North Lincolnshire Council has announced a series of local drop-in sessions across the county in order to educate those who might not be confident in using the app:

  • Wednesday 22 April, 09:00 to 10:30 – Crowle Community Hub
  • Wednesday 22 April, 9:30 to 11:00 – Winterton Community Hub
  • Wednesday 22 April, 11:15 to 12:45 – Livewell Isle of Axholme, Epworth
  • Thursday 23 April, 09:00 to 10:30 – Brigg Community Hub, The Angel
  • Thursday 23 April, 11:15 to 12:45 – Baysgarth Community Hub, Barton
  • Thursday 23 April, 14:30 to 16:00 – Scunthorpe Central Hub

Passengers will also be able to book trips via a dedicated council in-house call centre, which will be available to take booking between 08:00 and 17:00 once full service begins on 27 April.

Fares will begin at 2.50 GBP for single adult journeys, with a maximum cap of 3 GBP per trip. Reduced fares will also be available for passengers under the age of 19.
