Safety and Comfort in Focus When German Police Have Eight Coaches Delivered from Volvo
Volvo Buses has delivered eight new Volvo 9700 coaches to the German Federal Police. The delivery is part of a framework contract entered into in 2018, which comprises a total of 27 units.
The Volvo 9700 coaches are used by the Federal Police to transport their personnel. One of their main tasks is to transport police officers with their individual equipment to nationwide missions. These include a wide variety of events or official state visits where protection for internal and external security is required.
Managing Director of Volvo Buses in Germany, Gerd Schneider, said:We’re very proud that we made the best offer to the Federal Ministry of the Interior’s procurement office and won this tender. With the Volvo 9700, we can supply the Federal Police with a tailor-made coach that fully meets the high requirements for safety, storage space and comfortable travel to their operation location in every respect.
The coaches also serve as preparation, meeting and staging rooms at the location. This guarantees a high degree of mobility and flexibility. The coaches’ generous storage space allows the federal police to transport all the necessary equipment and resources. In addition to being used mission orientated, the new coaches also transport crews between the Federal Police’s locations throughout Germany or visits to neighbouring authorities in Europe.
Schneider, added:For us and the Federal Police safety is key, the coaches are therefore equipped with numerous driver assistance systems to ensure maximum safety.
Manoeuvring under the often-cramped space conditions at the place of use is made easier by a separate reversing camera. An efficient collision avoidance system with an integrated turning assistant from Mobileye maximises the protection of vulnerable road users such as cyclists and pedestrians are also a feature included in the coaches.
