Opérateur de Transport de Wallonie (OTW), which operates as TEC, has ordered 97 Volvo 7900 S-Charge hybrid-electric buses for the Walloon region of Belgium.

This order follows previous deliveries of Volvo’s hybrid buses, which have been successfully integrated into OTW-TEC’s fleet.

The striking yellow Volvo 7900 S-Charge buses will go into service in Belgium’s Walloon region

Once these recently ordered buses are operational, OTW-TEC will have 293 Volvo buses in service.

Bas Dubois, Managing Director, Benelux at Volvo Bus Corporation said:

We are very pleased that OTW-TEC continues to order our electrified buses and that we can continue our cooperation to provide sustainable transport in Belgium. One of the key points is that these buses have shown excellent reliability in operation. The drivers also appreciate the comfort of the driver’s environment.

The Volvo 7900 S-Charge was launched in 2020 and is now operating in more than 25 countries.

This self-charging model continuously re-powers during service, recovering energy when braking and driving downhill. It therefore does not require charging infrastructure.

The hybrid-electric bus can drive in full-electric mode for up to 1 kilometre and at speeds up to 50 kilometres per hour.
