Last week; FlixBus unveiled the winning entry of its nationwide design competition in London, which aims to celebrate five years since the company’s debut within the UK.

The competition saw art students from across the country invited to submit designs inspired by the theme ‘Five Years Connecting the Lines’, with the winning artwork being that of second year University of Dundee Graphic Design student Chantelle (Bao Tran) Vu.

All designs were subject to a public vote, with Chantelle’s concept visualising connections across the UK through a series of intersecting circles inspired by maps and movement, with each circle representing a journey linking cities and communities – and a hidden ‘5’ woven into the design to celebrate FlixBus’s fifth anniversary.

Chantelle (Bao Tran) Vu said:

I wanted to create something that reflected the way travel brings people and places together. The design is inspired by movement across the UK and the shared experiences created through those connections, while also celebrating growth and community.

Chantelle has won a 2,000 GBP prize for her efforts, as well as a year of free travel across the UK.

Kathrin Friedrich, Head of Creative at Flix, said:

We were incredibly impressed by the creativity and thought behind the submissions, and we’re delighted that Chantelle’s winning design perfectly captured our modern brand.

The winning vehicle wrap, which was unveiled on Coach Day (17 June), has now begun operation across the FlixBus UK network.
