France: Orléans Métropole Orders 7 Irizar ‘ie tram’ Electric Buses

Orléans Métropole has contracted Irizar e-mobility to supply seven 12-metre electric Irizar ‘ie tram’ buses for the French metropolis.

These new vehicles produce zero emissions at the tailpipe and are powered by the latest generation of batteries that provide more onboard energy than Irizar’s previous models.

The delivery of the first units is scheduled for the end of next year. Each bus will have 3 doors, 22 seats and 2 spaces for wheelchairs.

Irizar e-mobility Managing Director Iñigo Etxeberria, said:

“We’re very thankful to Orléans Métropole for this new order and for putting their trust in Irizar e-mobility once again. It’s a metropolis that is making a significant commitment to electrifying public transport. And we’re proud to be by their side once again in the process of technological transformation and to contribute all our technology and innovation.”

To enhance safety, the ordered buses will have cameras installed instead of rear-view mirrors and are fitted with driving assistance systems.

Between daily operations, they will be charged overnight with using slow charging in Keolis Métropole Orléans’ depots.
