Sri Lanka’s tourism industry has been recovering following several years of disruption. As international visitor numbers have increased since 2025, demand for vehicles used in tourism transport has also risen. Chinese-built buses are now used across a range of transport services in Sri Lanka, including public transport, intercity operations and tourist coach services.

Golden Dragon developed the vehicles for the Sri Lankan market following research carried out with local distributors before production began. Sales and technical teams visited tourism operators to assess operating conditions and customer requirements, including the need for vehicles capable of handling mountainous routes, improved passenger comfort and customised vehicle specifications.

The buses supplied to Sri Lanka include right-hand-drive layouts with modified dashboard and gearshift configurations. They are equipped with integrated Google Navigation and powered by 400-horsepower engines intended to provide sufficient performance on hilly roads. The vehicles also feature upgraded seating and suspension systems designed for long-distance travel. Operators can select customised exterior liveries and equipment packages.

Golden Dragon maintains a permanent after-sales support team in Sri Lanka, providing maintenance services, technical training and spare parts to local operators.

Yang Xuezheng, manager of Golden Dragon's Central and Southeast Asia Sales Department, said:

The delivery of this batch is further proof of Golden Dragon’s customer-first commitment. We will continue to align with Sri Lanka’s evolving tourism landscape, leveraging our localised service network and customisation capabilities to deliver increasingly competitive solutions for our local partners.

Golden Dragon, which exports buses to more than 130 countries and regions, said it intends to continue expanding its localised product development and operational support in international markets.
