National Express has reported a surge in bookings for this year’s Easter travel period.

Bookings across the operator’s national network have increased by over 40% in the course of the last two weeks, with bookings for trips such as London to Stansted Airport and London to Luton Airport both up more than 80%.

Bookings for trips between London and Liverpool, as well as London and Southampton, have also risen by 42%.

A recent Domestic Sentiment Tracker report published by VisitBritain states that 64% of adults in the UK believe that the cost of living crisis is affecting them, with 31% claiming that finances and spending is one of their biggest barriers to taking an overnight trip within the country and almost a quarter of people (23%) saying that the cost of fuel is hindering travel plans.

Helen Smyth, Director of Commercial at National Express, said:

People still want to get away this Easter and spend quality time with their family or simply switch off for a few days. But with fuel prices continuing to rise, many are looking for more cost-effective ways to get around.

Coach travel allows people to enjoy a spring getaway without worrying about the cost of filling up the car, parking or other driving expenses – helping to keep UK breaks and airport travel for holidays abroad more affordable.

With hundreds of great value, reliable and frequent coaches serving destinations across the UK including all major airports, those seeking an Easter or spring break have one less thing to worry about and can make the most of their budget.
